Northern Academy - Show Announcements

The 2010 Northern Academy Open Class program brings to the floor a unique look into the life of World renowned author and flamboyant exhibitionist, Quentin Crisp. When Sting met Crisp, he admired his blatant disregard for being what many referred to as normal and mainstream, and composed for him the track an Englishman in New York to honour his unique outlook on life. Northern Academy are proud to include exerts from Sting’s original masterpiece as they too honour a Man that has angered, frustrated, bewildered, befriended, enlightened and finally been loved by millions around the Globe for simply being himself, no matter what others say.

Quentin Crisp (25 December 1908 – 21 November 1999), born Denis Charles Pratt, was an English writer and raconteur. He became a gay icon in the 1970s after publication of his memoir, The Naked Civil Servant, brought to the attention of the general public his defiant exhibitionism and longstanding refusal to remain in the closet.

Staff and Members are delighted to bring this unique presentation to you for your enjoyment and hope that you engage within the program as it unfolds through the season.

NAPA would like to wish all competing Guards in all classes the very best of luck for the 2010 season.
