WGUK Mentoring Scheme
WGUK will once again be using mentors for the 2019 season to provide feedback to Cadet, Junior and A Class units.
What is the WGUK Mentoring Scheme?
A WGUK Mentor will be an instructor (drawn from a pool of volunteers) who will provide an extra tape to competing units. The instructor will provide feedback from a fellow staff members point of view. Depending on their experience, they may comment on any aspect of what they see, with a view to giving helpful guidance and ideas without the need to provide a score. To be clear, this is not a sixth judge, it is peer to peer support from within the Winter Guard instructors community. This approach may also have the added benefits of giving more instructors insight into the judging process and therefore boosting our pool of judges in the future.
If you would be interested in becoming a WGUK Mentor can you please provide by email to
firstname.lastname@example.org, the following information;
1. Your name and contact details (email)
2. Your current affiliation/responsibilities within your organisation (e.g. “staff for our A Guard unit”)
3. The 2019 shows that you would be available for and, if you have preference, which classes they are happy to do tapes for.
We will then contact all those who replied and discuss their involvement and ensure they are happy and clear what is required and how the scheme works.
Please respond by 21st December at the very latest.
